Centrebus 709 K6 YCL

Centrebus are a large bus company operating services across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland. The company started in 2001 in Leicester and have grown continually since then, in 2002 they merged with Dunstable operations, acquiring St Albans operations in Blazefield, expansion with Hertfordhire contracts and the takeover of the Harpenden to Hemel Hempstead route from Arriva. In 2005 they bought out MASS Transit in Grantham and in 2007 purchased Bowers Coaches who operated services across Cheshire, Derbyshire and Greater Manchester. In 2012 they joined the Wellglade group to serve as High Peak Buses. They then bought out Woods Coaches of Leicestershire in 2008 and Arriva also gained 40% share into the group. This was then followed by the takeover of Trustybus in 2009 serving Essex and Hertfordshire, Judges Mini Coaches in 2010 serving Kettering, Milton Keynes, Welford and Wellingborough, West End Travel in 2011 who served in Melton Mowbray, Paul James Coaches also in 2011 in Saxby and Kimes Buses of Folkingham. Due to the amount of companies the group has taken over recently their fleet is very varied and mostly consists of second-hand vehicles, many of these varying from Plaxton Centro’s, to Optare Solo’s and a few Volvo Olympians too. However the firm do have a small fleet of new vehicles which arrived this year in the form of Enviro 200’s. One unusual vehicle in their fleet is a Scania N94UB / East Lancs Esteem which was an ex demonstrator, it works on service B using some of the guided busway section around Luton. It is seen in the standard, white, orange and blue livery.
