GNE Solar Waggonway

gne logo

When the MetroLink service M1 recieved its new batch of Mercedes-Benz Citaro’s and changed to the Connections4, the previously used Scania L94UB / Wright Solar’s were transfered onto the Waggonway service to replace and withdraw some of the last DAF SB220 / Plaxton Prestiges out of the fleet. The Waggonway consists of services 28 and 28A which operate every 30 minutes between Chester-le-Street and Newcastle via Pelton Fell, Grange Villa, Beamish Museum, Pelton, Ouston, Birtley, Wrekenton (28), Kibblesworth (28A) and Gateshead Interchange. The service has links with Beamish Museum by offering a 25% reduction on admission price when a bus ticket is shown on arrival. Also the 28/28A services drive right down to the entrance of the museum during the summer months. The Waggonway livery has been applied in exactly the same design except that the base colour is more of a plum colour rather than the previous dark red which suits the livery better, there is also a slightly different design on the back window to what was previously used. This is 4960 NL52 WVR working a 28 service to Chester-le-Street.

  1. Nice work Keiron 🙂
It’s a very simple livery, like the DAFs, but it really ties in with the area that it serves.

Looking forward to the new X66 livery, must be a really hard one.

    All the best,
    Tommy

  2. To arriva1581,

    Keiron
