GNE FabFiftySix B9TL

Order No’ 6 of the 2013 vehicle order for Go North East consisted of 15 Volvo B9TL / Wright Gemini 2’s for the FabfiftySix service 56. This was to increase capacity due to overcrowding on the previous Wright Solar’s which were of various ages; these vehicles are in Northern livery and used as reserves on Deptford routes. The 56 route runs every 12 minutes between Sunderland and Newcastle city centre, serving Gateshead Interchange and Concord Bus Station. The route used to operate every 10 minutes up until the 12th January 2015 in an effort to improve reliability of the service by reducing PVR allowing for longer layover at each end. Therefore the PVR dropped to 14 with one of the batch now painted into the standard GNE red livery. The livery itself is similar to the previous design but with a slightly more modern look and utilising the extra space for route information and flowers! The vehicles have the standard free customer Wi-Fi capabilities, Next-stop announcements and route information screens onboard as well as plug sockets for charging uses. The vehicle shown below is 6089 NL63 YHS.
