GNE The Tyne Trail

The Tyne Trail was our entry for the 69/69a brand, which was beaten by the Pulse which has now been branded to six Volvo B10BLE / Wright Renowns. Go North East ran the competition last month for the new 69/69a services which replaced the Kingfisher brand and saw the service combined with the 187 which has subsequently been withdrawn. Below is our entry, The Tyne Trail:

  1. I actually like that!!!

  2. hi,
is it possible to do a net of Stagecoach MAN Ecocity WX61 FXO http://www.flickr.com/photos/buses7675/6174762531/

  3. Thanks,
I quite like it too, though I can imagine in a few weeks a window will have been replaced leaving half of the trail!

    Matthew

  4. Hi,
I should be able to give you a definite answer tommorow as the main creator for this blog (Keiron) may not have a net for this paticular vehicle.

    Thanks,
    Matthew

  5. Hi,

I do not have a net for one so this request cannot be continued.

    Thanks
    Keiron

  6. This looks way better the the Pulse, but it can be argued that the Pulse name relates to the QE Hospital, still I think the Tyne Trail should have won. And so much effort went into this…

    Marcus

  7. To Marcus,

Thanks for your interest. I always enter the livery competitions but had no luck as of yet.

    Keiron

  8. Have you ever thought of submitting an improved version of the Northern brand, because to me it seems quite dull and simple. Can you remember, I think it was Gateshead depot once had a Metrobus in a stripy, rainbow like livery that to me looked very attractive and eye catching. How about entering that?

    Marcus

  9. Oh yeah, Marcus Green is actually me! I typed it in accidentally.

    Marcus

  10. To Marcus,

Go North East are never interested when you send in brands when there are no services under a consultation period. Most liveries are simplistic as GNE regularly repaint vehicles so its more cost-efficent. To be honest, I think the Northern brand looks rather smart on Deckers such as the Volvo B7 Vykings.

    Thanks
    Keiron

  11. To Marcus,

It doesn’t matter as on my end it shows up your IP address and email which is always the same.

    Keiron

  12. Same opinion for the deckers, the Lolynes and Presidents aren’t too bad either, but the Gemini 1 at Gateshead doesn’t appeal to me. It’s mainly the single deckers, some of the Renowns don’t really show much Northern, just red with Northern in a smaller print at the back. One thing I’ve noticed with the Trident Presidents and a couple of Lolynes from CLS Depot is they have painted ‘1913 Northern 2013’ on the side. I know for a fact 3885 has this because it is regularly used on my scholars bus. Watch out next time and you might spot this!

    Marcus

  13. To Marcus,

That’s correct, most of the Northern vehicles are having this treatment but more vehicles are apparently having a full repaint of some sort. More of a matter of wait and see I suppose.

    Keiron

  14. Yeah, my scholars bus driver, Cath, tells me all about what happens in Chester depot, not only because I’m interested, but it gives her something to do other than drive a bus with a 50 kids on jumping on seats, swinging on the handrails and standing on the stairs. Sometimes I think I’m the only normal person on the 887! Anyway, yesterday, Friday the 15th, I had 6022, the ticket machine was broken so we all got on for free. It hadn’t gotten the new treatment but it’s sibling 6026 had. Anyway, Cath told me that these buses are only ever used in emergencies; 3821, 3822, 3825 and 3983. Today, 3983 was on 34A with 3821 as well, 3822 was on the X25 and very surprisingly 3825 was on the 71! She told me when she look the bus out for us, 4862 and 4864 were in the paintshop. I guess they have either been withdrawn or are getting the new treatment. Cath and me talk alot, so if you ever need info on Chester depot or updates, I might be able to tell you before Simply Go. As I see the request list is EMPTY (get in!), if it is possible, I would like to make a few requests please;

GNE 6056 The Angel livery saying 21 Newcastle
GNE 6070 The Angel livery saying 21 Durham
GNE 3865 The Angel livery saying 21 Chester Le Street
GNE 3885 Northern livery saying X22 Metro Centre

    Thanks Keiron and Matthew
    Marcus

  15. Whoops, sorry, didn’t read the stickypost! I’ll ask again on the 28th!

    Sorry!
    Marcus

  16. To Marcus,

Interesting story that, feel free to inform us of any news for an update on the North East Bus News website.

    Keiron

  17. To Marcus,

    Thats fine, others dont!

    Keiron

  18. Oh that reminds me, she said the yellow buses are only yellow because yellow is a school bus colour. She told me that they will all soon go Northern, thus eliminating the Yellow Bus brand. And the seats are gonna be improved (thank lord). She didn’t give an exact date but Cath said by next year.

    Marcus

  19. Glad to be of service πŸ™‚

  20. To Marcus,

That would surprise me as they have just been painted in a new version of the Yellow Bus livery and half of them have been sold and are due to all be withdrawn by the end of this year.

    Keiron

  21. I think a couple have already been painted into Northern.

  22. Like the DAF’s, I think they are both S reg, the DAF’s seem to fight through courageousley, but it wouldn’t surprise me either if they all go. To be honest with you Keiron, I think they could fight through with them. Cath says they are nice buses to drive compared to Lolynes which I think are aging quite abit now as well.

  23. But I think it said on Simply Go that the overall target is for the Northern brand to take over the Yellow Bus brand.

  24. Walked into CLS today and went to Aldi. I thought it would be nice to have a look through the depot doors. I saw 4862 and 4864 in the paintshop/maintenace area and 4866 on the lifts. When I returned to front street I saw 4987 on the 34, which is quite unusual because 4987 is Waggonway branded. Just thought I’d tell you, perhaps the Lambton Worm is going, or maybe just a regular check-up?

    Marcus

  25. To Marcus,

The Palatines in Northern Livery have been like that for almost a year.

    Keiron

  26. To Marcus,

I quite like the SB220 and I think they will last much longer yet as most of them are not in that bad of a condition when compared to some of Arriva’s. Yes, I also agree with you about the Lolynes although personally I dont like Lolynes at all.

    Keiron

  27. To Marcus,

That’s quite possible but I think its more the fact that the Yellow Bus Palatines will be withdrawn with only Northern vehicles out and about.

    Keiron

  28. To Marcus,

The Lambton Worm brand is staying for the foreseeable future.

    Keiron

  29. I agree with you on the Lolyne’s, but the one I honestly can’t stand is the Palatine 2, it just looks so bulgy and ugly to me, but that’s just my opinion. I can’t wait till their all withdrawn. I always judge a bus by the way it looks and it’s appearance, not the way it sounds and is to ride on. I love Palatine 1’s like I’ve mentioned before, Presidents, Gemini 2’s and SB220’s.

  30. I think just about all R reg vehicles are reaching their sell by date, and I think the shopkeeper might remove them from the shelf pretty soon. The renowns aren’t too bad.

  31. I bumped into Cath today in Chester and she said the other day she got to drive one of the new Gemini 2’s for the TEN. The thing is, Cath is actually employed under the Clerical department, but she drives in emergencies. She is a PA (personal assistant) for the depot manager and sometimes if a bus needs moving in the depot or taken out, she’ll do it. She’s like a relief driver. The other day, I think she said Wednesday, she got a call to go to Saltmeadows to take one to Winlaton. Earlier today, my dad needed something in Gateshead so I went with him on the condition that we drove past Saltmeadows, so he did. I saw a lineup of 3 of the new Gemini 2’s in the maintenance area. What a sight!

    Marcus

  32. Type into google images Go North East 6075, 2nd picture on the top stream. Magnificent picture of 6075, 6077 and 6079. It was just posted 16 hours ago.

    Marcus

  33. To Marcus,

To be honest the Renowns are in good condition compared to many of the relics within Arriva Durham’s fleet.

    Keiron

  34. To Marcus,

Sounds good, Sean Blair has a photo of the three so perhaps he was there at a similar time.

    Keiron

  35. In fact Keiron, the picture I’m trying to point out I think might be Sean Blair’s, and I might have seen him take it. Spooky……

    Marcus

  36. Spoke to Cath today, she said 2 new buses have been transferred to CLS. 4944 which is a L94 Solar, and 7038 which is a Driver Trainer. I asked her why there was a Driver Trainer and it’s because Chester is getting a new part time driver named Peter to cover the N21 and Scholars etc. Apparentley he wants to pay for his Uni fees by bus driving. She said Chester haven’t had a new driver since Summer 2012. And she is a quite a new driver since she has only been with the company for 3 years. One called Les has been a driver for 46 years!

  37. Cath says 4944 has been at Chester just sitting in the depot for almost a fortnight surprisingly! She said it hasn’t seen service yet at Chester but is due to appear as a reserve in case 4862, 4864, 4865 or 4866 break down on the 34/34A (apparentley 4866 is a ‘funny’ one, she says you never know when it’ll break down, I have a feeling it might get the chop soon)

  38. When I said Cath has been with the company for 3 years, she’s been a DRIVER for 3 years, she’s actually been with Go North East for about 20 odd years, she said she was around when it was Northern General!

  39. Hi Keiron, I have had quite a strange week of observing bus activity!

Well, it started on Monday when I looked down the bank and saw a GREEN ANGEL coming up! I let a few buses go past and it’s identity was revealed to be 6070, a Gemini 2, ON A SCHOLARS SERVICE! I hopped on Scholars 884, which it was operating, however I was 15 minutes late for school and got a break detention :(. On the night I had 3821. The next morning I got on Scholars 887, operated again by 3821. However, when I retained my ticket, it turns out 3821 has retained the identity of 6063, another Gemini 2! When I looked at my ticket from the previous night I noticed a siilarity, 321 is 6063. I walked home that night. The next morning, today, I saw 4993 and 4844 coming up the bank! 4844 was on Scholars 886 and 4993 was on Scholars 885. The 885 is a manic bus, you can’t even grab a seat, so I took the ex-Crusader. My day went fine and on that night I had 3825 on Scholars 887 and it’s stablemate the 886 was operated by 4908, another ex-Crusader! That night I saw 4844 was doing the 50 going to South Shields and 4985, a Waggonway bus, going to Durham! When I went for some grub on front street, I saw the tail end of another ex-Crusader operating the X25, but it was too far away for me to see the registration. I think you should put on the North East Bus News website that a few ex-Crusaders are at Chester, because 3 buses aren’t just there for nothing!

    Glad to be of help!
    Marcus

  40. To Marcus,

The North East Bus News wesbite is updated every 2-3 weeks so all news is counted for up until the post is published.

    Keiron

  41. Hello Keiron, got some good news, some bad news, and some upsetting news;

The good news is Cath has confirmed 4908 has been transferred to Chester TEMPORARILY due to a shortage of buses
The bad news is Les is due to retire at the end of the month on his 47th anniversary
    The upsetting news (well, for me) is Cath is getting transferred to Deptford as Cheif Inspector and Assistant Manager. I’ll tell you the story;

It started yesterday when Les was driving the 887 on the night, I spoke to him and he said he was retiring at the end of the month. I asked him why Cath was off, he responded saying she was in an interview to take up her redundancy. Of course I was happy for Cath, but it meant I would probably never see her again. So, tonight I spoke to her and asked if it was true, and it turns out Les had the total wrong end of the stick, Cath was going to get promoted and transferred to Deptford. She said she had initially applied for her redundancy, but in the end she was offered the job at Deptford, so she took her money and ran. She’s had a good run mind, she started at South Shields in 1988, then got transferred to Jarrow in 1993, followed by Stanley the following year. In 1997 she got transferred to Gateshead, and then in 2002 to Chester, and she’s been there ever since. I guess years of hard work pays off, she will be at Deptford by May 😦

    Marcus

  42. To Marcus,

4908 is now in Wear Tees Colours at Gateshead, see photo here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/williamsonm/8578641582/in/faves-64659913@N04/

    Keiron

  43. Wow, never thought I’d notice that! Nice picture! Today was Cath’s last day at Chester before she gets transferred to Deptford. She’s going to be Assistant Depot Manager and Service Delivery Manager for the Deptford services. I’m happy for her, but I’ll probably never see her again. However as she’s been promoted to Service Delivery Manager, I’ll probably see her on the back of leaflets and fliers. Her name is Cath Bell but she’s getting 3 week off to prepare herself for the move.

    Marcus

  44. I like the look of the new great park and ride, I think the 4 old X66 Centrelink Solar Fusions are getting repainted for it. Newcastle could use some bendys to accompany the Citylink’s but doesn’t want to get overcrowded with them like London where they became so unpopular everyone wanted them out. The new Crusader Citaros look quite smart too, Go North East are very paint efficient by stripping them of the 10 logo, keeping the silver paint and simply painting crusader over the silver in a chilled out beach style fashion. And the old Crusader Renowns speak for themselves as 4908 has barely changed it’s paint apart from no Crusader logo, still sporting the maroon paint but with the Wear Tees express livery now applied.

  45. Oh yeah just to say, I did notice the Wear Tees Xpress livery when it was on Scholars 886! It’s not much more than what’s shown in the pic you shared Keiron, it’s just another logo sporting X7 in big bold writing on each side and Wear Tees Xpress on the back

  46. Hi Keiron,

Just been surfing the web and come across half a dozen or so of the new Wear Tees Xpress renowns. All of the photos are copyrighted so I can’t give you a link or send you a pic, but just type into google images, Go North East X7. Just scroll down til you find one. P.S. When I said it sported X7 on the side I meant just a big X that spans across half the side of the bus, plus it has route information and all the stops on the top, like with most routes.

    Cheers
    Marcus

  47. Hi Keiron. For an update on the North East Bus News website, 3886 has been stripped of Say Yes Now colours, it is just a plain red double decker bus, no northern livery or anything, just red with Go North East in small print. 4944 is settling in nicely at Chester but has only seen use on the The Waggonway 28/28A and Whey Aye Five 0 50/50A. I saw it on the 50A on Sunday. 4987 hasn’t seen service in a while so I am assuming it is a stand-in for it. 8238 has seen regular use on the 71 and 78 and even made an appearance on the 14 on Easter Monday. Haven’t seen 4843 yet.

    Marcus

  48. Sorry I meant 4837!

  49. To Marcus,

The Wear Tees Renowns actually had a full repaint as that Maroon is not the same colour as the lilac now used.

    Keiron

  52. To Marcus,

I don’t solely run the North East Bus News website, Matthew operates it most of the time so can you supply information for North East Bus News on the North East Bus News website.

    Thanks
    Keiron

  53. To Keiron

I have posted a comment on the North East Bus News website about 3886’s livery change. Last night I e-mailed Go North East about a visit to Chester Le Street garage, I got a notification today saying I could, but I still don’t have the date, they said they would get back to me. I will be taking a camera to snap some shots, hopefully I’ll get some of 4837, which I still don’t think has seen service. Please just tell me if you want me to take any specific shots of a specific bus, it’ll be no bother at all. I will be taking as many as I can of the interior of the actual depot. I will send you some if you want. In other news, 4944 is seeing more varied use now, having appeared on the 78 on Saturday as a replacement for 4854, and again on the 78 and 8 earlier on today.

If you’re intersted in this, after Scholars 888 is finished, it goes onto the 9:00 X25 from Waldridge Park. Scholars 888 is ALWAYS operated by a Lolyne.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

  54. To Marcus,

Thank you, I have noticed although I’m waiting for Matthew to return to sort the news update out. That should be good, the only thing majorly newsworthy and would be great to get a photo would be the Key Mobile App Lolyne which hasn’t actually been revealed yet. The last time I saw it the vehicle was getting painted in the livery but that was almost a week ago so not sure what has came of it.

The interworking is quite commonplace, the 814 Scholar service interworks with the X25 as well on the afternoon I believe.

    Thanks in advance
    Keiron

  55. I’ll try my best Keiron. I believe Lolynes are only based at Chester, Stanley and Percy Main. Judging by the fact that the majority are at Chester, the chances of it being at Chester are greater. Another fact you may want to consider is that 3983 is a CONTRACTED BUS. Cath worked in partnership with another driver called George, the system would work like this,

    Morning Cath 844, George 887
    Afternoon George 844 Cath 887

3983 is nearly almost in use on the 844, unless it needs work on it. If you happened to see the registration or serial number of the Lolyne, we could trace it to a depot. Baring in mind Chester already has 8236 in the Key Mobile livery (which I haven’t seen in AGES), there is a chance the Lolyne may be from somewhere else. BTW I saw 3886 today on the 50, it does have advertising for the a movie (I think it was Oblivion) on the side so some work must be going to commence on it.

I’ll keep my eyes peeled though Keiron,
    Marcus

  56. Hi Keiron,

I don’t know if it’s worth considering this for an update, but a few weeks ago before Cath left, she told me that each major depot (Deptford, Gateshead etc.), is a ‘mother depot’ to one of the ‘mini depots’. I am unsure of the others, but Crook and Chester work in partnership. All of Crook’s buses go to Chester for work and maintenance. It is also the reason you occasionally see a Pronto or an OK Dart on the 34 or on a scholars service, or why you sometimes see an OK Expressway Solar on the 78. Chester and Crook drivers work in partnership on the Pronto, sometimes a Lolyne or a Trident President can be seen on it. The Pronto’s that are at Chester for maintenance and a shortage sometimes mean why an OK Solar is sometimes used on the X21.

  57. Hi Keiron! I’ve got big news!

    Somebody has got a picture of the new Lolyne key mobile, the photographer didn’t see the serial number because of the distance he was standing from. The rumor is that it’s either 3803 or 3804. It has blue seats so that rules out 3873, 3877, 3878 or 3879. I was on 3864 today so that rules out another possibility, 3863 was on metro replacement and I saw 3859 on the X25. The guy was standing in the depot entrance, it is zoomed in on and having paint applied to it. Here’s the link;

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/adammalarkey/8603648596/

If I’ve typed it in correct, I’ve never given a link before. I’ll pop down to the depot tomorrow to see for sure.

    Marcus

  58. To Marcus,

Since it was in the depot I couldn’t see but I know it had an internal refurbishment so it could be one of the ex Sir Bobby Robson Foundation ones.

    Keiron

  59. To Keiron,

Chester has 11 Lolyne’s in total, 3803 is refurbished, 3804 is refurbished, 3859 is refurbished, 3864 is refurbished, 3865 is refurbished, 3868 is refurbished, 3869 is refurbished, but 3873, 3877, 3878 and 3879 aren’t. That rules out the last 4, 3864 diefinatley isn’t ‘cos I was on it today and 3859 was doing the X21 earlier today so that leaves 03, 04, 65, 68 and 69. The photographer himself said it was pointing towards the Sir Bobby buses so my best guess is 03 or 04.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

  60. Sorry I made a typo, 3859 was on the X25, and 3877 was on the 14 with 3887, 3887 was probably covering for the Key Mobile Lolyne.

  61. To Marcus,

I knew that of sorts, its the same as Peterlee which is looked over by Deptford.

    Keiron

  62. To Marcus,

Yes I too have seen that photo but I didn’t link it since I didnt know which one it was.

    Keiron

  63. To Keiron,

Saltmeadows is Sunderland Road I have a feeling, and I have seen a few Consett MPD’S in Stanley before. Hexham might have a relation to Winlaton because that’s the only depot for miles and they share the TENS.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

  64. To Keiron,

Having looked over the photo repeatedly I can just make out a 3 on the end of the low resolution fleet number.

  65. To Marcus,

I was thinking the same, I imagine that a launch will be made sometime about the Key Mobile.

    Keiron

  66. To Marcus,

Yes thats all correct and yes Consett is looked over by Stanley.

    Keiron

  67. To Marcus,

Therefore suggesting it may be 3803?

    Keiron

  68. To Keiron,

I had a look at the depot today, no sign of the mysterious bus, in fact the depot was empty apart from 3869 and some Plaxton and Caetano coaches. I did however see 3862 sitting in the depot entrance. As I started to make my way down Picktree Lane back into Chester, I saw Cath. She said this was her ‘official’ last day at Chester. She no longer drives, and as of Monday is Service Delivery Manager for the Drifter. As I continued on, 3862 left the depot and made it’s way into Chester , I saw the key mobile Lolyne. Judging by the time my best guess was it was doing the X25. Earlier on I had seen 3865 on the X22 in normal northern livery, 3869 was the sole service bus sitting in the depot, it was in the normal northern livery, and an even bigger possiblity to rule out was I saw 3804 on the X25, in normal northern livery. I sprinted like an Olympic athlete to get a better view, but it had passed Highfield and was out of sight. I’ll try again tomorrow….

    Marcus

  69. Hi Keiron,

I’ve just remembered, earlier, before I went to the depot, I asked Tony who works in the travel shop. He said he had NO IDEA about the key mobile lolyne. My first impression was maybe it’s a secret? I started questioning him about the different serial numbers of the lolynes and their whereabouts, until he finally spilled the beans that an engineer down the depot had rung up earlier on saying 3803 was ALMOST FINISHED ‘having it’s gearbox removed’. Either an inside plot or a VERY good cover-up!

    Thanks,
    Marcus

  70. To Marcus,

Thanks for that, since its in service now I assume there will be better photos of it shortly.

    Keiron

  71. To Marcus,

I was thinking that since no-o e has really seen it. It will most likely be 3803 I think.

    Keiron

  72. To Keiron,

    That makes two of us!

    Thanks,
    Marcus

  73. To Keiron,

I’ve just popped down to the depot earlier on about an an hour or so ago. The ‘mystery bus’ was sitting in the depot, it was visible, but it was surrounded by 6068, 6022, 4866 and 4853. An engineer called Ian saw me with my binoculars and asked (he knew me from previous visits) if he could help. I explained what I wanted, and he said it IS one of the ‘ex bobby buses’ as he put it. He said it was going to be released ‘in full’ in the forthcoming week. That left 3803 or 3804. But to be honest Keiron, almost everyone knows it’s 3803.

    Cheers,
    Marcus

  74. To Marcus,

Yes, you’re right then it will be 3803. Thanks for your help!

    Keiron

  75. To Keiron,

Today on the way to school I had 6060 on the 21. We pulled into Chester Police Station to pick up a uni student, two buses soared past us. One was the X25, the other Scholars 886, which was operated by a red, simple 3886. I can confirm for you that 3803 is the mystery bus. I got a clean look at it’s reg AND serial number.

    Glad to be of service,
    Marcus

  76. To Keiron,

Today on the way to school I had 6065 on the 21. Whilst waiting for the bus I saw 3803 on the 34A, sporting the new livery. When the 21 came and I got to school I thought nothing of it, until at hometime I turned the corner to see 3803 on the Scholars 885. I was very surprised, but the early morning 34A is usually operated by any sort of double decker, it can range from a palatine to a vyking. At about 10-ish it normally gets replaced by a Lambton Worm prestige and the double decker goes back to the depot, unless a prestige is unavailable it just stays on. It probably just got pulled out for an emergency. I must say the new key mobile has fascinated some of my friends.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

  77. To Marcus,

Yes I also saw it working 814 on Tuesday.

    Keiron

  78. To Keiron,

3803 on the X22 today. I was most surprised today to see that 8236 has returned to service after a spell at Saltmeadows for paintwork. In the ca just about a half hour ago I saw 4837 returning not in service to the depot, at first I mistook it for a Cadet. It is in full northern livery with typical renown styling.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

  79. To Keiron

3886 now in the northern livery with treatment applied, I have already posted a comment on the North East Bus News Website.

    Marcus

  80. To Keiron,

All 5 of Chester’s tridents on the X25 today supplemented by 4853. I have a feeling that this key mobile thingy is gonna be big because, lets be serious Keiron, the X25 was pretty much designed for the lolynes, it only needs 6 at maximum. And when there are all 6 buses which aren’t lolynes doing the X25, ‘Houston, we have a problem!’

    Cheers,
    Marcus

  81. To Keiron,

Another lolyne into the key mobile, it was travelling at a fast speed so I didn’t get a clean look but it’s reg started W17, that makes it either 3873, 3877, 3878 or 3879. Hopefully it’s been internally refurbished because their seats are pretty old.

    Marcus

  82. To Marcus,

I doubt the others will be getting branded into it and Lolynes are fairly unreliable as they do sit on a Trident.

    Keiron

  83. To Marcus,

In contrary to my previous comment perhaps they are all getting branded.

    Keiron

  84. To Keiron,

Driver 3137 Tony who is driving the 887 until the June school holidays says 3803 and 3804 are always going to fall victim to new branding ideas. Tony also said the W17 reg I saw would have been a paintshop tester. Sometimes that is what happens, the paintshop sends a bus out with only a couple of the stickers on to see how it runs. He said 3879 hasn’t been out the depot since last Saturday so it would probably have been 79. To sum this comment up, sadly only the ex bobby buses are going to be key mobile. 😦

    Cheers,
    Marcus

  85. To Keiron,

Tony will no longer be driving as of next week as Cath’s designated replacement, another woman who played a prominent role at Stanley, has gained her PCV licence. As all Scholars are covered up there, she wanted change so came to Chester. Nobody knows her name yet, it’s a secret, but she is VERY nice.

    Cheers mate,
    Marcus

  86. To Keiron,

I have some very newsworthly info for you, but I have so much your comment system may go bust so I’ll shorten it. Tony says Cath’s replacement is Bev, who will start next week. In other news, and this is alot to take in, by September, the 28 Prestiges are to be withdrawn and replaced with M1 Solars, half of them will go northern for random depots, the waggonway livery is also due change. The 56 Solars are definatley being replaced with something, and the main rumor is Gemini’s. The 60 Versa’s are going to change into something else due to unreliability and Tony reckons they will be replaced with something less modern and new. Now, for the 34, I asked Tony if the 28 Prestiges are going, if the 34 Prestiges will. He said they are to last longer, hopefully next year, but there are many canditates. They include Renowns and Cadets, but the one that really scared me, now are you ready Keiron………………….Versas! It shocked me but most of the Chester drivers really like them to drive, they were experimented with around the depot with 9133 when it spent a couple of days at Chester, and talking of 9133 it is due to move onto another company soon. Another shocker is the M1 is due some Mercedes! 3825’s engine was dreadful today but Tony definatley said Mercedes, and speaking of 3825, Tony also said ALL of the Palatines are to be withdrawn by September as well. I know it seems like I’m stretching the true a bit Keiron, but this is genuinely what Tony told me….

    Cheers,
    Marcus

  87. To Keiron,

Some of my observations recently are leading me to believe that Chester might not just overlook Crook, but it also overlooks Stanley! The fact that I saw 3862 inside the depot when looking for the ‘mystery bus’ back in April really makes me consider it. Also, my grandma’s friend lives directly opposite the depot, she is always complaining about the view, but my grandma said a few weeks back she saw what she described as ‘a long orange single decker with the mercedes symbol on the front and diamond in big bold writing’, sitting in the depot entrance. She is not the only one to see this, as I, back at the start of the year, saw a Red Kite in the maintenance zone. Another is 4844 when it was new to Stanley, it was on Scholars 886. I had a quick word with Gary, the driver, on that occasion and he said ‘we were short’. It’s not that rare to see a Diamond on the lime, 5261 makes regular appearances also. I don’t know about you Keiron, but it looks that way to me….

    Thanks,
    Marcus

  88. To Keiron,

More evidence to back this up was 3832 on Scholars 887 a few weeks ago, 6031 on Scholars 888 a few months ago and 3876 on Scholars 885 just before Easter.
